What is the time commitment for an executive member?

An executive position involves overseeing your committee and potentially collaborating with others throughout the year. You could expect 3 to 5 hours per week. The time commitment would be on the lower range in the first semester and a bit higher in the second semester, as we get closer to the conference. Additionally, you would have the support of a co-director, volunteers, and the team to help with the workload.

How many hours would someone in an associate position work?

An associate position involves working with the directors of one or more committees throughout the year. Although time commitment varies by committee and time of year, you can expect to work 1 to 5 hours per week!

Do I have to be in psychology to volunteer?

Nope! You don’t have to be in psychology. Anyone interested in volunteering can apply!

Do I have to sign up in the fall?

You can sign up later! For associate member positions though, you should apply before December. We recommend letting us know ASAP to make sure there is still a spot available.

Can I volunteer if I am planning to submit a research project to the conference?

Yes, every abstract goes through anonymous peer review, so you can definitely do both!

I’m interested in multiple positions. Can I apply to more than one?

Yes, you can volunteer for as may committees as you’d like, but ensure that you’re ok with the time commitment! You can also discuss time commitment with the committee directors!
